1993 Toyota Supra (A80/Mk. IV)

Supra: Meaning "Transcending" or "Above" in latin, and a rather fitting name for a car which is so much higher than the rest. The Toyota Supra MK4 started production in 1993 in Japan. Then came it's rivals. Namely, the beast given the nickname "Godzilla", the Nissan GT-R R34,the Mazda RX-7, and a mid-engined Japanese Supercar, the Honda NSX, with all of these competing for the title "King of the Streets", and all very worthy of the title.
The Toyota Supra MK4 is equipped with a twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight six which can produce up 320Hp and around 440 Nm of torque and is known as the 2JZ-series . The acceleration of this car from 0 to 100kmh is around 4.9 seconds, and the top speed can reach up to 277kmh. For me, personally, the Toyota Supra MK4 had way more cultural significance and impact on the car scene as a whole in the 90's compared to its rivals.
There are few reasons why the Toyota Supra Mk4 is highly sought after here locally in Malaysia;
Firstly: It's Reliable
The Toyota Supra Mk4 is a formidable beast and the JZ engine just keeps on going thanks to Toyota's first class engineering. Many Toyota cars run great after 20+ years, not just the Supra. This is thanks to Toyota actually overbuilding their engines, meaning that parts are made thicker unnecessarily to allow for better engine health, performance, and reliability.
Toyota's JZ engine was so good, that they used it in all kinds of different cars, like the Toyota Soarer and Chaser, proving the engine's pedigree, and showing that the Supra was bred for performance. The engine used in the Supra MK4 is such a powerful engine, that it is often used for other car models for modification and performance. Secondly: The price for this "baby" keeps on rising The Toyota Supra MK4 is well already on it's way to becoming a classic and a very, very, valuable collectible. This is thanks to its relevance in car culture, even to this day, most likely thanks to it's featuring as the "Hero" car in the first "Fast and Furious" movie, which helped jumpstart the tuning scene in the West. One of the original Toyota Supra MK4 used in the movie "Fast and Furious" was sold for almost RM750,000 in an auction, so it's no wonder that Supra's around the world keeps on rising in demand and prices. Thanks to the car's popularity, it has received plenty of aftermarket support from huge brands like Greddy, HKS, and Tomeii, all brands that have been making parts since putting parts on a car was a thing. Even though the car is over 20 years old, Toyota designed it in such a timeless way that it looks great and is easy on the eyes to this day, and if you find yourself not liking a certain area of the car looks, you can bet there's someone who's made an alternative replacement for it.
